Elizabeth Tinsley Johnson

Elizabeth Tinsley Johnson is an Assistant Professor in the Human Biology Program and in the Department of Integrative Biology in the College of Natural Science at Michigan State University. Elizabeth teaches the Capstone Tier II writing course for Human Biology majors (NSC 495) and Evolution (IBIO 445 – another Tier II writing course). Her teaching emphasizes the importance of communicating and engaging with diverse perspectives as integral to the scientific process.

Elizabeth earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Biological Anthropology, and her research focuses on how and why female primates invest in social relationships and how this investment affects individual fitness. She currently studies wild capuchin monkeys in Costa Rica, as a co-Director of the Capuchins @ Taboga field site.
