The Coursera course titled “Getting Your Film Off the Ground,” is an introduction to many of the possibilities that exist to fund a film, market it, and create an audience for it. “Getting Your Film Off the Ground” fills a gap found in most film school educations. While it makes sense for film schools to focus on teaching students how to make great films, they end up with little time left to teach students how to fund and market their films. This course provides that much needed knowledge to anyone interested in creating moving images, whether or not they have studied filmmaking or made films in the past. The course not only discusses how to make one’s film happen but it also showcases the behind-the-scenes filmmaking process for creating the course’s videos.
